Bloody Monday

Yesterday was officially called "bloody Monday". 71,400 people were layed off from their jobs. Companies such as Circuit City, Barnes & Noble, Google, Sprint, Caterpillar, Home Depot, Intel, Microsoft, Boeing, Motorola, Hertz, Ethan Allen, Honda, Texas Instruments, Clear Channel, William Sonoma, Conoco Phillips, Walgreen's, Macy's, Warner Brother, Saks Fifth Avenue and EXPEDIA were just a few that were mentioned.

As of Friday January 30th I will be one of the thousands that are being layed off. Expedia is no longer hiring and the woman whom I've been filling in for while on maternity leave is coming back.

I'm keeping my head up! I've got a lot of competition out there now but I WILL find a job. I truly believe everything happens for a reason and it always works out one way or another. Keep your fingers crossed folks!

On a lighter or should I say heavier note.....McDonald's sales are up 80% from last year. People really do love to eat when their stressed.

I could not imagine!

Such sad news, she will be in my thoughts and prayers. To suffer this at such a young age.

I need to be more specific....

Note to self:
When I tell Mark to grab the laundry basket full of clothes...I need to tell him to grab the laundry basket full of clothes and not TOWELS.
Yes this was fun to find out one weekend. All the clothes I WAS going to wear to a rehearsal dinner and wedding were back at our condo 3 hours away. Now I had to figure out how to make a beautiful dress out of towels... And this is what Mark had to say....

So.....I'm working on being more SPECIFIC.

It's getting hot in here

On Monday my friend Sabrina and I started hot yoga. Wholy sweat. There were times I really thought I was going to die...my heart was beating so hard I thought it was seriously going to beat right out of me and walk out of the class. I've never sweat so much in my life, given I've played a lot of sports but never have I had to brace myself so I wouldn't slip on my puddle of sweat. I knew as soon as I pulled up to the yoga studio and all the windows were completely fogged over and the long line of people out the door, that it was going to be interesting night. The temperature in the class was 106 degrees. Yes, I lived in Arizona when it was 116 degrees but I wasn't trying to put my leg in the air while bracing onto my ankle and holding it for 20 seconds!! To top it all off I yogad (new word, thanks) next to this man (probably in his 60's) that was covered in fur. This mans hair connected from his head all the way to his toes. Not good in hot yoga. The hair acted like a sponge. Towards the end of class this man's body was literally "ringing out". It was like a faucet pouring out right onto MY mat. Don't get me wrong here folks, I really enjoyed it, and I will return...I just will do things a little differently....

1. Sit in the corner so nobody but Sabrina can sit by me.

2. Sit by the door so when the instructor turns around I can open it and breathe the fresh crisp cold air.

3. Bring more water, and where less clothes.

4. To say "Namaste" at the end of class so the instructor doesn't give me the evil eye. Its not my fault! It sounded like she was sneezing...."god bless you".

I'll have to work on this position.

Its Superbowl Time!

Cardinals are going to the superbowl!!! ABOUT TIME...even though I wish it was the Seahawks. But hey you cant win them all. I will stand proud on February 1st for the Arizona Cardinals. Hip Hip Hooray!

Why I drink wine...

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams .. If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver." ~ Jack Handy

Cheers to my fellow winos!

Better late then never....

Mark and I went to Puerto Vallarta for two weeks over the holidays. My family has a time share at the Grand Mayan and its something we do every Christmas. Mark had the pleasure in meeting the Finch side...aka the crazy side! During our trip Mark and I took some time away from the family and went to Sayulita for three days. This was defiantly our favorite part of the trip. We stayed in a little bungalow right on the beach, it was perfect. We met lots of wonderful people, drank lots of tequila, relaxed, went boogie boarding, took salsa lessons, shopped around town, and ate some fantastic food. Mark introduced himself to everyone as "Marcos Edwardo Rowlando"...everyone was instantly his friend. We would be walking on the beach and people whom I've never seen in my life would yell "Wuz-up Marcos" and "Marcos come hang out"..how on earth does he meet friends where ever he goes I really dont know, but I swear Marks purpose on earth is to meet and have as many friends as possible. Sayulita had so many nice people, it would be hard not to make friends. Towards the end of the trip I think we had a suitcase full of emails and phone numbers of all our friends. We definately recommend Sayulita for a vacation spot. All in all we enjoyed our time away from the rain/snow/wind and cold. Now that we have returned, Mark and I can no longer smell, eat or drink anything that involves the mexican heritage. Cheers!

New Years 2009!

It was off to a rough start but everything has smoothed out and it just keeps getting better and better. I know its only the second week of January but hey, there's nothing wrong with a positive outlook! My two best friends, Brie and Shawna, brought their handsome boyfriends and came down from Anacortes and stayed with Mark and I. We had a fabulous dinner at the Tap house and then moseyed on down to The Parlor, which is one of our favorite spots. It was a great way to ring in the New Year...lots of music and LOTS of dancing, of course! Cheers to good health and happiness!

I'm currently living in Bellevue with my boyfriend Mark Rowland, if you havent ever met him I suggest doing it, hes a great guy with a fabulous personality. I'm an Executive Assistant at Expedia and love going to work everyday. I have a dog named Elly May who is the love of my life. I dont know what I would do without her sometimes. I'm very blessed with a supportive family and a wonderful group of friends. I love living in the northwest and cant wait to see what 2009 brings!
